shieldFDNY EMS RETIREES ASSOCIATION

About Us

Our members are retired from FDNY EMS.  They are EMTs and Paramedics of the New York City Fire Department who are either service retired or retired on disability.  We even go back as far as HHC EMS.

Our organization helps to support these amazing people and their families.  Many are young disabled retirees with families, or very ill from 9/11.  Our organization seeks to make their retirement easier.  We were instrumental in fighting for their WTC healthcare in the early days and developing the national program.  We also plan activities for all members and their families to participate in for socialization and enjoyment post retirement.  One major factor that affects emergency workers when they retire is the lack of socialization that can add to depression.  Retiring is a big change of life for an emergency service worker, especially one forced to leave early on disability. We seek to make that transition easier and build networks of services for them.

Our organization also provides scholarships for their children as part of a scholarship program approved by the NYS Department of Education. We assist members with WTC issues, claims, healthcare (even in the National Program), DC37 Benefits, NYCERS, FDNY, retiring process, Social Security, Mental Health and more!

To support all our initiatives, we are gracious to have wonderful supporters.  The FDNY EMS Retirees Association, Inc, is incorporated as a not for profit 501c3 Organization.
